There are many elements to the process: getting to know the student; assessing his or her academic strengths, interests, values and temperament; building a student resume; building a list of potential colleges and universities that fit the student’s goals; filling out applications; choosing people to write letters of recommendation; writing college application essays; determining financial aid packages; timing and preparing for college entrance exams; finding scholarships; and more. Horizon provides all of these elements, including test preparation for the PSAT, ACT, and SAT. History Established in 2010. Ginny Wirzbicki, the owner of Horizon College Planning, originally opened an independent learning center in January of 2010 near Charlotte, North Carolina. That center (Mentaur Learning) is still up and running, and Ginny provides college planning and test preparation services to many of their students. While working under a new name, the company still provides many years of experience in test preparation services and college planning counseling.
