Strategies for Learning helps students overcome hurdles by providing high quality learning support.We offer educational therapy, one-on-one tutoring, group sessions, case management, homeschooling, assessment, and test preparation. Our unique array of services can help students and their families navigate the challenges of school. Services are available in our Oakland clinic. We also go to schools and homes and work via video conference with students traveling or living abroad.In addition, our learning experts lead workshops and presentations for academic staff and teachers, parent groups, and organizations, providing information on learning differences and remediation strategies. Phyllis Koppelman, M.Ed., BCET, has been in the education field for over 30 years. A graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles with a B.A. in English/Speech, Phyllis went on to earn her M.A. and teaching credential in Special Education from the University of California at Berkeley. During her tenure with Berkeley Unified School District, she was a classroom teacher at both the elementary and secondary school levels and a Resource Specialist. She has also served as Assistant Director of an independent K-8 school.A Board Certified Educational Therapist, Phyllis was a sole practitioner until 2002, when she founded Strategies for Learning, Inc. She has trained teachers, developed curriculum, and spoken at seminars throughout California.
