Honored teacher, 20 years experience.Too often school becomes the battle ground between parents and children. I step in as an outside third party and work with students as a friend and instructor to take the arguing out of the process. I have developed many tricks to make studying together fun and interesting for my students.I become their education partner. I make study lists to prioritize what they will do with their study time when they are on their own. I also cheerlead, joke, praise, and offer reassurance to keep each student moving through their frustration. I check grades, monitor the daily planner, talk to teachers, and generally do whatever it takes to make sure each student experiences success. In school students are forced to learn primarily in a lecture-based format. This is often an ineffectual learning style for many of my students. In our sessions learning is always experiential, interactive and dynamic. When they step back into the classroom they are better prepared to absorb more information and participate in class discussions with confidence. Any educational project, any homework assignment, and all test preparation can be broken down into easy to understand, sequential steps. I demonstrate these steps as I help students with all of those activities. History Established in 1997. 1997 started tutoring business. Have tutored hundreds of children of all ages and special needs. I also tutor advanced student who want to raise their level of information.I taught elementary and then middle school for the Los Angeles Unified School District for 10 years. I also taught full-time at Heald Business College for 6 years. I have a Masters Degree in Education with a concentration in learning disabilities. I started my own business as an Educational Therapist in 1998. My system of tutoring and coaching works on all aspects of a child’s life that must be productive in order for grades to improve. I oversee all homework, school projects, teacher communication and test preparation. My coaching also addresses the organizational issues and lack of motivation that often sabotage a child’s success.
I am the owner of the business I have had other tutors under me at various times. I taught in junior high school in Los Angeles Unified School District for five years and was elevated to Mentor teacher. I also taught adults at night school in ESL and college courses at Heald Business School. I have had many other teaching experiences too much to list here but those were the highlights. Those were the places I learned the most and helped me to start my tutoring business. I have done home teaching as well as tutoring. I Tutor in my home in Downtown Sacramento.
