I have worked with students privately and in community settings and welcome the opportunity to support you and your child in his/her academic endeavors. I tutor students ages 6-18 on an individual or group basis at my home office in San Mateo. I offer academic support for core subjects, study skills/organization and time management. I have specialized training in the Lindamood-Bell method for reading comprehension and phonics.I also offer standardized test preparation for the SAT, ACT, AP exams and private high school entrance exams (HSPT, ISEE, SSAT, COOP.) I have specialized training in the Princeton Review strategies for test preparation. My experience also includes offering presentations on SAT test-taking strategies and tools for academic success to the Burlingame High School Parents’ Group and to the Aragon Asian Parents’ Group. Upon parents’ requests, I advocate for students’ needs by composing letters requesting educational service accommodations, drafting letters of recommendation and attending parent/teacher conferences and Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings.I am a strong believer that art is a powerful tool to enhance and support learning. My arts-oriented peer support groups help students to cope with academic stress, ease test anxiety, develop healthy decision-making skills and navigate peer and family relationships. For more information about my tutoring services or art groups, please visit my website at learningwithlindsay.com.
I have 25 years of experience working with children and teens, some of whom have complex social/emotional issues, learning challenges and developmental disorders. I support students with a spectrum of educational needs, including auditory processing difficulty, Asperger's Syndrome, attention deficit disorders (ADD, ADHD) and issues of executive functioning.I advocate for students' needs and am passionate about supporting youths.
