Leah, a New Jersey native, is a seasoned teacher now residing on the Upper West Side. After receiving her master's degree in education, she taught kindergarten in New Jersey for three years. She then looped with her kindergarten class to first grade. During her first four years teaching, she taught daily test prep courses after school to third, fourth, and fifth graders. When Leah moved to Gramercy, she taught a second grade inclusion class in Brooklyn. During this time, she also mentored a new teacher. Furthermore, she spent a portion of her day teaching Fundations, Wilson Language Basics. During Leah's last two years in the classroom, Leah taught seventh grade reading. An observer described her class as the "Dawer Power Hour." After working for several years in the classroom, Leah realized if she truly wanted to prepare students for college and beyond, it would be more fruitful to provide students with a one-to-one educational atmosphere than instruct in a classroom setting.
