USMLE Pro Tutors was founded by Alyssa Ehrlich, a 4th-year medical student who previously tutored through a prominent medical tutoring company that charged students over $250 an hour to work with her, yet provided no guidance on the best ways to help students achieve their score goals. Alyssa decided to start USMLE Pro Tutors to provide better USMLE-focused tutoring using a unified, proven method, and to charge much more reasonable rates while providing higher quality tutoring. After over 400 hours of independent private tutoring, Alyssa selected a team of high scoring and experienced tutors and taught them the USMLE Pro Method, a unified strategy for optimizing USMLE, Shelf Exam, and medical coursework tutoring, which takes advantage of evidence-based principles of adult learning to help students study more efficiently and achieve higher scores.
Originally from Long Island, New York, Alyssa graduated summa cum laude from Columbia University, where she double majored in Neuroscience and Philosophy, and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society as a junior. She is currently conducting biomedical research at Massachusetts General Hospital, in-between her 3rd and 4th years of Harvard Medical School. She excelled on her USMLE board exams, scoring a 262 on Step 1 and a 281 on Step 2 CK. She plans to apply for residency in internal medicine, with the ultimate goal of pursuing gastroenterology. The founder of USMLE Pro, she has over 400 hours of tutoring experience, both online and in person, and is passionate about test preparation tutoring and working with students who struggle with test-taking anxiety. When she is isn't working in the lab, tutoring, or spending time with friends and family, she enjoys practicing vinyasa yoga and learning improv and sketch comedy.
