I had been working at a laptop, college-preparatory school in NH for almost three years as a teacher of language arts, special education and ESL- US history. I love I loved teaching & creating new programs.I especially enjoyed my international students in my dorm, on my ski team or yoga class. We learned so much from each other-and many keep in touch today. I found ways to reach them in meaningful ways while really using the English skills they needed, but were often too nervous to absorb-so while unorthodox at times-they quickly realized this method and strategy allowed them to enjoy learning, use the language in natural ways, and they were comfortable therefore took more risks. Teaching online was a natural choice when I wanted to expand on after school-summer tutoring. I specialized in tech integration, wrote curriculum & had built a company website back in 1995. So creating Test Prep and Tutoring for teaching English online for ESL/ELL was a blast! Launched 2004. Revamping site.
I'm a pretty awesome teacher, mostly because I love to learn & then share my excitement! I'm passionate! I love to teach-but love even more instilling skills and life lessons that change my students forever. I can teach content and skill sets in multiple area and do it well. It's important my students, then seeing them build genuine pride and confidence in their abilities. Teaching critical thinking is absolutely imperative. Problem solving-study skills-personal responsibility, compassion, flexibility, logic-I believe these are ALL as important as content. My passion and genuine motives are crystal clear, and students trust me, but know I expect the same from them. Former students, 5-10 years ago still contact me to share their lives and how much they appreciate what they learned during our time together. That's why I'm a great teacher!
