Contractor’s Licensing, Building Inspectors,Real Estate History Established in 1975. Television Education, Inc. (“Tel Ed”) was founded by the late Frank D. Corbett (left in the photo).After completing college in 1936, Frank worked briefly as a high school teacher before starting a real estate and insurance business. He also operated a highly successful construction firm. Frank took numerous state licensing exams and obtained a real estate broker’s license, a life insurance agent’s license, and a contractor’s license in six trade classifications (general engineering, general building, concrete, structural steel, reinforcing steel, and welding).In 1971, Frank retired and opened a license exam prep school in Sacramento with his wife Anne. During the next four years, the Corbett’s school attracted students from all over California. The school’s success also led to offers by other school owners to purchase Frank’s study materials.In 1975, Frank incorporated Television Education and negotiated contracts with several school owners.
