I originally started this business after graduating from Cal State Fullerton with a Physics degree in July, 2011. The abysmal job market at the time repeatedly chewed me up and spat me out when applying for any and every position I could think of. I was either told there were no positions available, or the ever so frustrating “you’re over qualified.” Well, just like everyone else, I had bills to pay, and they didn’t care what my qualifications were. In response to an unyielding economy, I decided to make ends meet by doing what I do best: Math and Science! It may well be the best decision I have ever made. Since then, I have helped hundreds of students, from struggling high school teenagers to senior adults completing master’s degrees. I love this job for many reasons: learning is awesome, solid paychecks, meeting interesting people, etc. But the best part is that I get to help others have an easier and more educational transition into college and their careers than I had.
Credentials: B.S. Physics & MathematicsI have always enjoyed learning about Math and Science. That amorous relationship became strained in my first three years studying Physics at UC Irvine. I struggled with my upper division courses, despite making every attempt at getting extra help from colleagues and professors. Believe it or not, I have had renowned PhD level professors discount their teaching obligations by claiming they were there only to do research. This was very much the culture adopted by a majority of the staff. Clearly it was not an effective learning environment. From there I transferred to Cal State Fullerton, and although credit transfers were less than straightforward, the physics department there provided for us a learning utopia. This is where I officially discovered that proper instruction which is tailored to students needs makes all the difference. A philosophy which I carry forward each day and practice with my students.
