My business specializes in focusing on what my student needs to attain her/his optimal SAT score. But in this competitive world of razor-thin cut-off points, where do we draw the line? I help my students explore every aspect of this crazy standardized test prep process. To take the SAT or the ACT? That is the question: I offer free diagnostic testing to assess which is the better test for you. Need to raise that score by 20 or 200? We can talk about that too. This is like no other test prep company out there because it’s me. Just me and six students (never more). The most overqualified instructor you can find. Why do I do this? Because I am committed to offering “elite” level educational opportunities to anyone who deserves it regardless of their parents’ income. Committed just as much as me? Come in to see me; we can work it out. History Established in 2014. The history of this business began 3 decades ago in my college days at the University of Chicago where I tutored brilliant inner-city kids who just needed someone with that extra time on her hands. Along the way, I earned a B.A. in Biology and a Ph.D. in English Literature. For a few years I worked in elite SAT prep companies and found myself to be entirely at odds with most of their practices. Perhaps this is because I am a trained academic and do not have a degree in business. In any case, once my baby boy was born, I decided to start this company (in California) with my own set of core values: (1) to help students see beyond the SAT so that it’s an inevitable goal-post on the way to success, (2) to help students make sense out of this crazy competitive world of standardized testing, (3) to help students realize they are the masters of their own success. Today, I hope to share those values with the youth and parents here in Texas.
My name is Mary Song. I am a mother of one six-year old and wife to my best friend and fellow academic, Albert Pasaoa. With four sweet cats, we make a family of seven. Just recently, all seven of us got into our car and traveled from Southern California to make a home here in Dickinson, Texas. I've decided to transport our home-classroom tutoring business here as well. I've been formally employed as an educator for almost two decades and informally teaching for closer to three decades. I love teaching, cooking, hiking, playing board games, hugging my family members, laughing, sci-fi/action/animation movies, and eating good food with loved ones.
